Cheap Flash Diffuser Tutorial

Description

Okay, so today I decided to make a flash diffuser for my new camera. I'm super broke, so I just used what I had around. All photos are un-retouched, just cropped and re-sized.

1: Supplies needed are a white plastic grocery bag, scissors, tape (the invisible kind), and a piece of white printer paper (optional).

2: Cut a piece of plastic bag so that is fits around the pop-up flash. It should have plenty of extra length on the front and back, enough on the sides to wrap over itself.

3: Use a piece of tape to wrap around the middle of the flash, below the actual flash bulb area. Then, Pull up the extra plastic in front and tape it to make a double layer of white plastic in the front. Continue taping to coat the entire piece of plastic with tape, inside and out. This will help the diffuser fit better and be sturdier.

4: Trim the diffuser to make it look neat. You should be able to easily slip the diffuser on and off. When not in use, the diffuser will fold up and easily fit in a pocket or small camera bag.

Optional: Cut a small piece of pure white printer paper to fit in the front of the diffuser. Place paper on the inner front and tape it there.

Voila! There you have a practically free pop-up flash diffuser that will fit in your pocket.

Additional notes: If you mess up, just scrap it and try again. The whole process takes about 5-10 minutes. Maybe try different colors of plastic bag and/or paper to make some cool effects.
Also, this is my first tutorial, so don't hate too much :)

Thats very helpful. I recently bought that same camera and its amazing! Specially outdoors.
Had I known this I would have tried it. However I purchased light diffusers, umbrellas, slave flash etc. Cant wait to start experimenter!
